Who we are

The website at easonlaw.co.uk (our website) is provided by Eason Law Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales with registered number 12308593, whose registered office is at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX ('we', 'our' or 'us'). Our VAT number is 341105453. We are the controller of personal data obtained via our website, meaning we are the organisation legally responsible for deciding how and for what purposes it is used. What this policy applies to

This policy relates to your use of this website only. Our Statutory Registers service at registers.easonlaw.co.uk involves accounts, payments and stored registers, and has its own privacy policy, which you can read at registers.easonlaw.co.uk/privacy.html. Our website also links to other websites, including those of partners; those websites gather information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Personal data we collect and why

This is a brochure website: it has no user accounts, no forms and sets no cookies of its own. The personal data involved in your visit is limited to the following.

Correspondence. If you email us using an address on this website, we collect your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and we use it to respond to your enquiry and, where an engagement follows, to carry out that work. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to the people who contact us.

Technical data. Like almost every website, the servers that deliver our pages briefly record technical information such as IP addresses in their logs for security and operational purposes. Our website is hosted by GitHub, Inc., and its typefaces are delivered by Google Fonts, so those providers receive your IP address in the course of serving you the page. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, we do not send marketing, and we will never sell your personal data or share it with anyone for their marketing.

Who we share personal data with

Our service providers as described above (GitHub for hosting, Google for font delivery), each processing only what is technically necessary to serve the website. We may also occasionally share personal data with our professional advisers (bound by confidentiality), and with law enforcement agencies, courts, tribunals and regulatory bodies where we are required to do so or where a public body makes a written request and we consider disclosure necessary and appropriate. We will not share your personal data with any other third party.

How long we keep it

We keep correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and, where it relates to work we carry out, in line with our record-keeping obligations for that work, typically six years. Technical logs are held briefly by our hosting providers under their own retention practices. We do not keep personal data longer than we need it, and delete or anonymise it when the relevant period ends.

Transfers out of the UK

Our hosting and font providers are US-headquartered, so the limited technical data described above may be processed outside the UK. Where personal data leaves the UK, it does so as UK data protection law permits: under an adequacy arrangement (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for US providers certified under it) or subject to appropriate safeguards such as legally-approved standard data protection clauses. Cookies

This website sets no cookies and uses no similar tracking technologies, which is why it has no cookie banner.

Your rights

You have the rights UK data protection law gives you: to be provided with a copy of your personal data; to have mistakes corrected; to have your personal data deleted in certain situations; to restrict our use of it in certain circumstances; to receive the data you provided to us in a portable form; to object to our use of it, including any use for direct marketing (of which we do none); and, where we ever rely on your consent, to withdraw that consent at any time. We make no automated decisions about anyone. Keeping your data secure

We have appropriate security measures to prevent personal data being accidentally lost, used or accessed unlawfully, and we limit access to those with a genuine need. We have procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach, and will notify you and any applicable regulator where we are legally required to do so.

How to complain

If something has gone wrong, please tell us first and we will do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may change this privacy policy from time to time; the version date at the top shows when it last changed. If we ever make a change that significantly affects you, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
